THINGS MATTER.

Circular Collective

Connecting humans with objects.

Things Matter keeps useful objects in circulation through thoughtful curation and redistribution.

We work with existing items to extend their useful life, connect them with new users and add value through curation, repair, restoration and, where appropriate, transformation.

Through circulation, we aim to support employability, share skills and resources, reduce waste and encourage a more thoughtful relationship with the objects that already exist.

OBJECTS HAVE MORE TO GIVE

Our approach begins with what already exists...

ABOUT US

Things Matter is a Community Interest Company focused on keeping useful objects and materials in circulation.

We work with individuals, organisations and communities to identify, curate and redistribute existing items so they can continue to be used and valued.

Where appropriate, objects may also be repaired, restored or transformed to extend their useful life.

Our wider purpose is to create social, environmental and economic value through the circulation of objects.

OUR APPROACH

The aim is simple: keep useful things moving and keep their value in circulation.

We believe circularity works best when environmental, social and economic value exist together.

By keeping objects in circulation, we aim to:

- prevent useful items becoming waste

- create pathways into employment

- support skills and knowledge sharing

- make better use of existing resources

- create economic opportunity

- encourage more thoughtful consumption

Items are considered for their condition, usefulness, quality and potential before being prepared and redistributed through the most appropriate route.

Repair, restoration or transformation may form part of the process where this helps an item remain useful for longer.

VALUE

The value of an object is not defined only by what it originally cost.

Quality, condition, usefulness, rarity, care and the work involved in bringing something back into circulation all contribute to its value.

Objects that are valued are more likely to be used, maintained and preserved.

By recognising the value in what already exists, we can extend the life of objects, reduce waste and support a more circular economy.
